I just thought I would send you a photo of a nice wisconsin fish I caught on the mini mag on the 4th of july. It was 48.5 with a 22 inch girth. Big girl for that time of the year. Greg Hassmann, 1st wisconsin chapter of MI. Eau Claire, WI

Phil, last year I started netting my buddies muskies on mini mags...after 6 of them went into my net, I figured I would break down and buy the yellow and gold one in the photo from Crazy Dees in Eau Claire. Well I caught 17 muskies on that one and then bought the blk/org one and got two more fish on that one. I just got the frog colored one in the late fall.
I included a photo of my biggest mini mag fish last year at 47.5". The neat thing was, I replaced middle hook on the yellow/gold one and caught a 41" on the next cast. Well the guy with me went and bought two the next day. I run the fishing league for the 1st Wisconsin Chapter of muskie inc and the mini mag stole the show. By the end of the season, almost everyone in league had bought one and crazy dees pegs were down to just a few left.
Also I run the outings here at the chapter and we have a one day outing called the topwater challenge every June. A buddy of mine who convinced me to buy a mini mag this year, won the challenge for the second time in the last three years. He was the only one at the time with a mini mag. By the way, the year he did not win was because he could not make the event. So most likely he would have won it every year. Next year will be different because I am locked and ready to pitch my mini mags, so maybe I can get my name on the travleing trophy in the fourth year of the event.
So now I am a huge AHL lure fan and cant wait to buy one of those two-timers in jailbird. That looks like one to take the topwater challenge next year. Thanks again Russ |

Phil: The lac suel mini has been coming up big for me again so far this year. Wednesday morning I landed a 54" with it and had another 10 blow up but not eat. So far this season I have landed 8 on the mini!! most upper 30s to mid forties and one other right at 50". I'm sending a pic of the 54". it does not have have a lot of girth but its not bad for a river fish. I hope your seasons going well.

Phil: 43"er on a J-Walker. Also raised a 55-56 incher mid day in the bright sun on it. It was Huge!!! Lost a 50"er on your Lac Suel. It was hooked and my rod tip hit the trolling motor and I hit free spool and got a back lash. There must have been a flaw in my line cause it snapped with barely any pressure on the fish. I'm going to be ordering another soon. Great Baits Phil...
Take Care,

Hi Phil,
I'm the guy that called you last week and ordered the loon colored Giant Klunker. It's a great looking lure. I took it out on Pewaukee Lake last night and started casting. On the fifth cast I stuck a 44 incher. I've attached the picture. Thanks for a great lure. I'll have to try some of your others. I'll be out there again tonight. Feel free to not sell any more of these to anyone else in SE Wisconsin so I can keep the action to myself (just kidding). I think it's a brand new look and sound here and I think it's going to do well. Thanks again.

Shawn Brown with one of 16 muskies caught on the Lac Seul mini
Phil,
I talked to you a little at last weekends musky show in Blaine about the lac suel mini I bought at last years show. I told you I would email a picture of the lure's condition so here it is. I checked my log and during last season I caught 16 muskies with it, the largest being a 48. My father caught 3 with it, his biggest was a 45. I cant even count how many fish I had follow or blow up on the lure. The paint on the lure is pretty well pummelled and the blade does need to be adjusted from time to time . It has far outlasted all my other lures and is definitely the most durable lure I have ever owned. I primarily fish shallow rivers with a lot of rocks and wood cover so it has seen more than its share of abuse but has held up very well. The Lure has landed close to shore on rocks every day! last season I logged 145 days on the water and this lure saw some sort of action every one of those days. Per your request I thought of returning the lure to you but I think it still has some life left in it yet !

Minnesota musky guide, Mike Hulbert caugth this large musky on a Giant Lac Seul fished at night over a shallow cabbage bed. He had raised the fish two times during the day and came back after her at moon rise. Big fish can't resist the the Giant Lac Seul!!!! |
Choppy water conditions call for the Lac Suel Turbo as proven here by Mike Hulbert. The Lac Suel Turbo's ride perfect in choppy conditions and definately grab the attention of big fish. This fish came off of a shallow reed point and completely crushed the bait. When it comes to choppy conditions, the Lac Suel Turbo are hard to beat! |

The fish in the picture was taken last 13 August 2006 on an evening where we
chose to work shallow weedlines with topwaters... I'm on Ontario's Eagle Lake
with my family. Our group is a bunch of "muskie hunters". This 50.5" muskie was my largest of 4 for the six days on Eagle.
The American Hardwoods lure is an easy choice for me... Ultra durable, the lure is quality crafted with a high abrasion resistant finish that withstands the punishment these beauties deliver. I'm impressed with the strong hooks & heavy duty split rings... Oh, and the "action". Shortly after the initial impact of the lure with the surface of the water and right after the ensuing couple of cranks with the reel, she exploded on the topwater lure. Initially I could not see the large lure because the fish had totally engulfed it! So many lures today are expensive... Muskie lures traditionally top that catagory. Then hold up for what? One, maybe two fish? The American Hardwoods is a good investment into a high quality extreemly durable lure!
Thanks for the best!

Phil,
My First Musky!!
I am pretty new to musky fishing so on my trip to Cass Lake my dad and I decided to hire Brian Jones as a guide. On the night of July 30, 2006 was when Brian took us out fishing. It was nearing the end of our trip with Brian and it was dark out. We were at the last spot and he told me to put on a topwater lure so I grabbed my Rotten Pumpkin Lac Seul Medium. Shortly after using it I felt a fish hit it, after battling the musky for a short while it was successfully landed. My first musky measured 46 and was safely released. This was the only musky of the whole Cass lake trip, but while using the same Lac Seul Medium my dad had a 50 plus fish attack at boat side but he missed it. Thanks for making such a great lure!!!

This is Dan's personal best. The wind was blowing pretty heavy and Dan had gotten a bad backlash. So while removing the backlash he drifted thru the blow thru and was over 70 feet of water into a trout hole. Dan decided to put on your lure becuase it was heavy and he wanted to cast in the wind to test his reel. He took one cast in 70 feet of water and in came the fish behind the bait. Dan lead the fish around the boat with the fish getting more aggressive the whole time and then the fish hit. He had a brief fight with the fish before he and his partner decided to net the fish. They managed to get the fish stuck on the outside of the net thrashing, that is when Dan reached in the water and flipped the fish over into the net. The hooks held and the shaft of the bait bent but held his trophy!! Back at the lodge he apologized for what he had done to my new lure, I looked at it said don't worry and just straighted it back out and it was good to go.

Phil,
I was already getting the winter blues from not being able to musky fish and it was only December. So in a last ditch effort to put a fish in the net, get that slim smell back on the hands, I thought I would head out one more time. It was December 29th, and I made it to my spot by 7:30 a.m. The weather was not conducive to fishing at all. It was cold, windy, rainy, no sun, and a high near 20 degrees. I started using Maple diver crank bait, which I had caught 3 other fish on this year. They ranged on size from 2x37 and a 40. About an hour and a half into the day she hit right next to shore. She was beautiful, healthy and a chunky 45, which just so happen to be my biggest to date. I have never used such a high quality lure, and the action is like no other lure on the market!!!
Thanks again,
Jim Leuze

Phil : Last Sept 2005 I was fishing for Northern Pike at Talson Big Pike Camp on Great Slave Lake in N.W.T. Canada. Here are some of the Pike that I caught using the Lac Seul Turr - bo in Hot Pink. The largest Pike that I caught on that trip was caught on your bait, a fat 47" Northern, that fish came out of water and attacked the bait. Can't tell how much fun it is to watch a 40 inch plus Northern's come out of the water and do a back flip and try to crush the Lac Seul Turr - bo bait. The hot pink and black & orange tail where the two colors that caught the most Pike for me on this trip, 7 Pike over 40" including the 47" and to many Pike under 40" to count and the bait still looks great and runs true in the water, first time a wood bait has made it for a week of Pike fishing in Canada for me!!!I'm going back up this year in the spring, so I will have to see you for some Mini Lac Seul baits for this trip. I love my Mini...!!!
I started using the Lac Seul Mini on Monday of my week long trip to Vermillion, While using It I boated my personal best a 51 Muskie at a boat side strike!! After I released that fish I continued to use the mini ( actually never left the end of my pole for 4 days I had so much confidence in it! ) I boated another fish 45 1/2 inches. I also had one of the biggest fish I have ever Seen follow the mini to the boatbut it wouldnt hit. My last day using it before I had to come home, I raised 8 fish, missed a fish and lost a mid 40's at the net when the fish jumped out of the water and thru the bait. Here are the pictures of the 2 fish I caught while using the Lac Seul Mini ! One of the best surface baits I have used!
Thank you! Eric Larsen Muskie

I had just made the journey from Bemidji to Thorne Brothers in Blaine
to buy lures. This was midsummer and the fishing was starting to pick up. I
ended up buying two lures at the store, one for me and one for my buddy. I
bought an American Hardwood Lures Wuumper . My first day, and about the sixth cast on the water using this lure
brought some unexpected results of a 49" fish with an almost 24" girth that
just smashed the lure right beside the boat. the fish had its head out of
the water and was just churning the water, took a couple of really good runs
and then made it into the net to pose for a few quick pictures before being
released to fight another day.
Thank You Chad Plante

Phil,
Attached are two pictures of the 47" I caught on your Musky Black Lac Suel Turr-bo.
It was the biggest fish our group caught during a week long trip to Canada.
The weather consisted of sunshine and high skies for most of the trip. We moved a-lot of fish but couldn't get the big ones to hit.
Your lure sure came through for me and made the trip a success.
Thanks,

Mick: Thank you so much for inventing the lac seul Giant While fishing on lake vermillion for just the second time (being skunked the first time by the way). The resort owner asked me why I would use topwater in the fall??. I replied. that I believed in this particular lure and its quality in performance and sound. That evening he was fishing nearby us and completely fished an area I was eyeing. When he was done fishing , we maneuvered our boat into the same area.
My first cast with the Giant and 2 cranks later the water exploded with this beauty. (best on my charts ever) thank you Mick.. Musky Greg Sept 2004

Hello, Phil,
Fish was caught on the Indian Lake chain of lakes just outside of Vermillion Bay, Ontario. The weather was rainy cold and overcast with reports that later in the day thunderstorms would be moving into the area. Had been seeing a number of fish and boated a 32 inch musky on the Lac Seul turr-bo, when by buddy noticed a musky on the surface. He cast a hawg wobbler to the fish but nothing happened. I threw the musky black turbo in the same direction and the fish hit it after about 10 feet of retrieve about 40 feet from the boat. Fish put up a good fight and was released. The turbo was the number 1 lure of the trip... Thanks for the recommendation.
Nice Fish!!

My brother and I took a trip to the Indian Lake chain and the musky action was slow all week. However, the lure they seemed to love was the Lac Seul Turr-bo.
Many big follows and hits. This being my brother's first time fishing for musky, I let him use my lure and we landed his first musky ever. After 3 hits at night, this 43 incher finally grabbed onto the lure,
and we caught and released him.
I talked to you at the musky show at State Fair Park, and was convinced this was the lure to get. Looks like you were right! Thanks Jesse

Lac Seul Jr. Gila monster Strikes again!
Matt Michalsen from Lake Tomahawk, Wisconsin was fishing a clear, deep lake before turnover in September around 8 PM. Threw his Lac Seul Jr. to the middle of a weedy flat into 5 feet of water. Fish showed it's dorsal as it quickly came up to the lure and exploded on it! Landed, measured, quick picture, and released in fine shape! Second largest for this 13 year old who has 14 muskies (all released) to his credit.
Great Job Matt !! |

Phil:
Here is the fish I caught on the Turr-Bo! I plan on using the lure to catch many more.
It was late on our last day of a week of fishing the Lake of the Woods. The weather had been unseasonably cold and the fishing slow.
My partner had just started the big motor, and I said, "Wait, let me make one more cast." I threw the lure up along side a large boulder and after about 6' of the retrieve, WHAM! The fish ate it, and we put a 40" muskie in the boat.

A musky's worst nightmare....the Lac Seul Lure
My brother and I were fishing islands and reefs on Eagle lake with Lac Suel Turr-bo in Gila Monster and got a 36 and 43" off the same hump within 10 minutes of each other. The next evening we came back to that spot the( last night of our trip) and moved a 45" + fish early on and were on our way out when we came to the "last casts" of our trip. As we neared the point were we had moved the fish earlier, she just exploded on the lure-(it actually went completely through the gills) as we rattled around the boat we managed to get her half in and out of the net. We grabbed the net and fish and pulled her in. 50" on the button we measured her twice on camera. She swam away in good shap

Lac Seul strikes again
"I am always looking for new baits to try so I picked up one of Phil's Lac Seul Top Water baits called the Gila Monster for my August 2002 musky outing. The results are obvious from the the picture - 50 inches and 35 pounds. Not only did I get results, the quality of the bait is superb. I expect this bait will last me years to come -- but just in case I lose the one I have now, I've already ordered another."

The wrath of the Giant Lac Seul
"It was a cold spring day and the temperature was hovering in the mid 40's. A brisk north wind was blowing, and there was a good chop in the water. Who in their right mind would throw a surface bait in these conditions? Well, with the confidence I obtained in this bait from past experience, there was no way I was taking the Giant Lac Seul off my leader, cold or not. I guess this bait allows you to stretch the rules a little bit. Kevin Presbrey
